Even if it’s just by a small amount, increasing your income can make big changes to your situation.

The information below gives you ideas on ways you could increase your income.

Benefits

Every year, people in the UK are missing out on benefits and tax credits worth more than £10 billion. To make sure you’re claiming all the benefits you’re entitled to, use our free benefits checker.

This will quickly and easily identify any benefits you can claim to help increase your income and improve your situation.

Get a second job

Could you look for an additional job where you could work part time? Or maybe you could try to increase your hours at work. This isn’t always easy, but even working an extra hour or two a week can provide you with income to help pay your household bills.

Ask for board

If you’ve got adult children living with you, ask them to make payments towards the cost of running the home.

Check your tax band

Make sure that you are paying the right amount of tax. Check your tax code and make sure that you’re claiming any tax credits you are entitled to.
