There are lots of different types of credit available and they all have slightly different terms and conditions. This can make it complicated to work out the differences between them.
We can give you free debt help and put you in a position to deal with whatever type of debt you have.
Check your credit agreement
If you’re not sure what type of debt you have, you should check the agreement you got when you first took the debt out. It should state the type of finance you have at the top of the agreement, for example fixed-sum loan or hire purchase.
If you don’t have a copy of your agreement, or the agreement doesn’t make it clear what type of finance you have, call your lender and ask them.
You can usually get a copy of the agreement and the terms and conditions that go with it by asking the lender. If the agreement is regulated by the Consumer Credit Act, for example an payday loan, credit card, store card or catalogue, you’re entitled to a copy of the agreement, terms and conditions and an up to date statement if you ask for it. Your creditor can charge you £1 for providing this.
