Debt Awareness Week
One week. Make it count.

Debt Awareness Week

Debt Awareness Week. Support free debt advice.

Each January we ask our partner organisations to promote free debt advice by running their own Debt Awareness Week. It’s a chance to share the message that nobody needs to deal with debts on their own and free and impartial advice is available.

We started running Debt Awareness Week because we know that millions of people are struggling with debt. Many of them aren’t aware that we can help them take control of their finances.

Debt Awareness Week 2016

This year we helped partner organisations run a variety of Debt Awareness Weeks throughout January. Over 400 partner organisations carried out a week of activity to promote free debt advice.

We also ran a DebtDay event on 18 January 2016 which opened the doors of the charity to see behind the scenes on one our busiest days of the year. We made hourly updates on the amount of debt reported to us, posted stories from the front line of debt advice, held debt advice clinics online and lots more.

When is Debt Awareness Week held?

We run Debt Awareness Week in January every year. January's traditionally our busiest time of year and when people start to deal with their debt problems.

Who can get involved in Debt Awareness Week?

Everyone! We want as many people as possible to share the message that free debt advice is available and can make a huge difference to many lives.

Previous Debt Awareness Weeks have been supported by banks, credit card companies, housing associations and major employers. We’ve also received a lot of support over social media and from our existing clients.
