We do not charge our DMP clients a fee for managing their DMP. We work out what we’re going to pay each of your creditors using the contractual payment amount we recorded when you gave us details of your debts.
We work out the payments this way because:
- The original term of a debt is reflected in how long it takes to repay it on your DMP so a debt with a 5 year term will be repaid before a debt with a 10 year term
- Your creditors will be repaid one by one so you’ll see the brilliant progress you’re making and your debt total reducing
- As the smaller debts are repaid more money will go your remaining debts
The minimum amount we pay to a creditor is £5, so that no one gets a really small payment.
Most of your creditors are used to dealing with us. However if any of them contact you about your payments all you need to do is tell them to give us a call and we'll explain your payments to them..
Making fair payments
The budget we helped you put together means that you’ve got enough money to live on and the amount you pay into your DMP is as much as you can afford towards your debts. Most of your creditors know this and are more than happy to accept the amount you can afford.
If some of your creditors aren't happy with your payment you don't need to make extra payments to them. If you do you won’t have enough money to cover your household costs, and these are much more important than making extra payments to your creditors. If you do make extra payments to a creditor, they'll keep contacting you each month for extra money.
Regardless of what your creditors say you should always make your DMP payment to us. We'll still send it to your creditors as they can be unhappy with the amount you're paying but they have to credit it to your account.
