Working towards a society free from problem debt

With 30 years’ experience providing free debt advice and solutions, we’re well placed to inform policy and practice change. In this section you’ll find all our latest research and reports and up-to-date debt statistics from our work to help members of the public deal with their debts.

If you’re an MP or parliamentarian you can find information on our latest campaigns as well as briefings for Parliamentary debates at Holyrood and Westminster. We also provide resources to help constituents deal with problem debt.

Our policy team uses our clients’ experiences to make the evidence-based case for changing regulation, law and practice, to reduce the risk of problem debt and the harm it causes to people.

Making the case for change

Our team undertakes research into personal debt, shares insights, and shapes policy proposals. This helps inform and influence change through a range of government and regulatory bodies, financial trade associations and others from the public, private and voluntary sector.

We make sure the voice of our clients is heard by raising concerns with a range of government and regulatory bodies and making proposals for action. This is all in order to achieve positive changes to people’s lives and to work towards a society free from problem debt.
