We stand up for people struggling with debt

Campaigning for you

Our campaigns speak up for everyone affected by financial difficulties. We raise awareness of the free debt advice available and the ways we can change the way people in debt are treated.

Our work falls into two areas: campaigning to influence government and policy makers to help reduce the number of people falling into financial difficulty, and campaigning to raise awareness of the support available for people struggling with debt.

Working to create change

From mental health issues to family breakdown and homelessness, we're all affected by the large social costs that problem debt creates. Our campaigns highlight the change that needs to happen to help us move towards our vision of a society free from problem debt.

Family walking together

Our Breathing Space campaign encourages the government to introduce a scheme to give people a break from the interest and charges added to debts while they seek advice.

How can we make saving easier? Our campaign calls on the government to introduce new and easier ways for people in the UK to save.

Dad and child on his shoulders

Our Credit Safety Net campaign encourages the government to build up financial resilience in Britain, including alternatives to credit, and access to debt advice.

Raising awareness of free debt advice

Our campaigns also highlight the issue of problem debt while allowing us to spread our message across a wider audience, letting people know that free debt advice is available.

We created our Debt in Mind campaign in partnership with the Mental Health Foundation. Debt in Mind helps people deal with their debt, while being mindful about the impact debt stress can have on their mental health.

The 7 Days, 7 Ways email programme helps people worried by facing their debts, by preparing them for getting advice at a pace that suits their individual circumstances.
