Share your story. You can help us reach more people in debt.

One of the best ways to raise awareness of problem debt is to show how real people are affected. We often get requests from the media to talk to people who know exactly what it’s like to deal with debt. As a media volunteer, you can help us to explain the human side of the story.

By speaking about the circumstances that led you into debt, the benefits of getting advice and the feelings you had along the way, you may encourage people to seek help themselves. It can be a positive experience for you too.

What's involved?

A number of things may be involved, from speaking to a magazine or newspaper to being interviewed for television or radio. Sometimes, we’ll need people to share their stories as part of a planned campaign, and we’ll be able to tell you in advance. At other times, we’ll be reacting to requests from journalists, which can mean we need to contact you at short notice.

Your story can change lives

By sharing your experience you'll help reach others struggling with debt problems.

You stay in control

If you decide to become a media volunteer, rest assured that we will never give your details to journalists without your permission and we'll contact you to ensure you’re happy with any request. It's likely that you will have to be identified for television and most radio interviews, but there's the option to remain anonymous for some magazine and newspaper interviews.

If you would rather not talk directly to the media, you can always share your story with the charity’s internal magazine, or speak to our research team.
