Change your future.

Are you a graduate or final year student? Are you ready to step up and help change lives? Then join our graduate programme.

Applying is simple

We’ve designed our recruitment process to help you make an impact, demonstrate your passion for the charity and your chosen business area, and show us what you’re really capable of!

Here’s what you can expect in the recruitment process:

  • Step 1: Apply now

Choose the Graduate Programme that that best suits your education, skills and interests – this will be one of the following: HR, IT, Marketing, Risk, Charity Development, Operations or Finance. You’ll be asked to complete an online application and answer questions about your motivation to join our Graduate Programme plus the qualities and skills that you would bring to the Charity.
  • Step 2: Telephone interview

If your application impresses us we’ll be in touch to arrange a telephone interview with one of our Recruiters where we can discuss in more detail about you and your drive to join our Graduate Programme. We'll also give you the opportunity to ask us some questions too.
  • Step 3: Video interview and presentation

If your telephone interview was successful, we’ll invite you to attend an virtual interview led by some of the Leaders in your chosen business area.

It’s important to be yourself and let your personality shine so we have the best chance of really getting to know you.

We want to understand your passion for your chosen business area, your motivation for joining, your career aspirations and why you think you have what it takes to develop into a future leader!

It’s also a great opportunity for you to meet us and decide if StepChange is the right place for you.

There will be some technical and competency based questions, followed by a presentation that you will be asked to prepare in advance.
  • Step 4: Online psychometric

If your virtual interview and presentation go well, we’ll invite you to take part in an online personality questionnaire which will give us more insight into your personality and the way you work. This will help us decide if you’ll be a good match for the role and our culture.
  • Step 5: Final interview with our Chief Executive and HR Director

You are almost there! The Graduate Programme here at Step Change, offers you exposure to our Executive and Senior Leadership teams, so it’s no surprise that our Chief Executive Officer is involved in this final stage of the recruitment process. This is your last chance to impress us with a final interview that will include some questions based on the insight from the personality questionnaire.
  • Step 6: Offer

If we decide that you’ve got what it takes to be successful on our fast track Graduate Programme and become a future leader, we’ll make you a conditional offer for you to join us in September 2021.
  • Step 7: Onboarding

There’s lots to take in before you start working here but we’ll make sure you have all the information you need before your big day on our onboarding website. It’s all about getting to know us better and giving yourself a valuable head start before you join us.
  • Step 8: Graduate event

We’ll organise a day for you to come and meet our team before you start your Graduate Programme. You’ll be able to get a feel for our working environment, meet the other successful Graduates joining us and some of the people you’ll be working with, and find out all the important stuff before your first day.
