HR help the Charity deliver its strategy by being responsible for all aspects of the employee lifecycle including recruiting new colleagues, developing & training them to help them to perform well and reach their potential.

They look after how we reward our colleagues with pay & benefits, along with engagement ensuring StepChange is a great place to work. They also manage HR policy and procedure, coaching and advising line managers across the Charity.

Marketing are responsible for the development and management of our brand, acquisition of new clients to the charity and understanding their requirements so our marketing campaigns and all the content we produce demonstrates how we fulfil these needs.

They get involved in Brand Development, Client Insights, Full Marketing Campaigns, Content Production and Digital Marketing.

Our Marketing department is part of the wider External Affairs function which manages our Media and PR, Policy Development and Internal Communications.

The overarching goal of this department is to ensure we are always acting safely and legally as a Charity, considering the needs of our clients every step of the way.

This department ensures we are complying with legalisation and regulation set by our regulator, the Financial Conduct Authority.

There is continuous monitoring and we manage key risks we face so that we can help many more clients for years to come.

Operations are responsible for all areas that deal directly with our clients and help them to resolve their debt problems.

That journey starts with a call or by using our online debt advice tool.

Debt Advisors will work with our client to find out what the problem is, their current financial situation and what the best solution to their problems might be.

Operations will then continue to support them with what their chosen debt solution might be until the debt problem is resolved.

Operations also includes the Debt Advice Policy team, Complaints, Quality Monitoring & Resource Planning.

Business Development are responsible for funding and growing the Charity.

They look at developing new products and new services, so that we can help more people.

They also look at sectors and organisations that we can partner with.

In addition, they are responsible for managing all our relationships with existing funders and partners – organisations that already refer clients to us for help, for example, big banks, debt collection agencies, utility companies and other charities.

Finance are responsible for all areas of finance in the Charity from payroll & expenses, facilities (our office estate) through to building the financial budgets and plans to continue to grow the Charity successfully.

They have teams in Accounting, FP&A (Financial Planning and Analysis), Procurement, Commercial and Contract Finance.

This is a unique range of financial teams which comprises more facets of finance than an average business.
