Creditors questioning your budget

If there’s an area on your budget where the spending is above our recommended amount, your creditors may ask for an explanation about why this is high.

We will have placed a comment on your budget to explain the costs but sometimes your creditors will ask for more information. This extra information is used to help them understand your situation and decide whether to accept your offer.

In some cases your creditor may ask for proof that this is the amount you spend. It's up to you whether or not you give them this information, as it won’t affect your DMP with us. But it may make the creditor more likely to accept your offer of payment. For this reason, it can be useful to keep copies of your receipts, bills and bank statements.
