This latest report provides insight into the demographic and debt information of new clients who first received debt advice in April 2025. It also includes the latest insights on our website traffic trends.
Our key findings from April 2025:
- The emergency funding webpage was the most viewed debt information page in April 2025 with 23,605 views, which is 37% higher than April 2024 (17,284)
- A 'cost of living increase' remains as the most commonly mentioned reason for debt, cited by just under one in five (18%) clients in April 2025
- A 'lack of control over finances' is the next most commonly mentioned reason for debt, cited by over one in six (17%) clients in April 2025, which is two percentage points higher than April 2024 (15%)
- In April 2025, the majority of clients seeking debt advice were women (59%) and two in five (40%) were men – which is three percentage points higher than April 2024 (37%)
- Between April 2024 and April 2025, the proportion of clients with no children seeking debt advice increased by three percentage points, from 52% to 55%, respectively
