How long have you been at the charity?
Nearly 11 years. I love being part of the leading debt advice charity and that it’s my job to put our clients first. Working here, you’re talking to people in very real situations and it’s great to know that we’re really helping them.
Is there a lot of training available?
I received a full range of training when I first became a debt advisor, and there are in-house refresher courses available for me now. We also have access to an online advice library and there are plenty of people to talk through an uncommon situation with. We definitely don’t lack training or resources to support us.
What are the hours like?
We work hard but there’s no pressure to get here early or leave late – your start and finish time are just that here. There have been times that I’ve left late to finish helping a client, but that’s always very much my choice. I’m definitely encouraged to keep work in work hours only. This is brilliant for me because I’m studying for a degree in my spare time. I work a compressed week to help with that too - 35 hours over four days.
What’s your office like?
I work in one of our regional offices and feel like a family member here. We chat, support each other, make tea for each other…it’s a really nice environment to work in.
What keeps you at the charity?
We’re a close knit team who really help people and don’t charge for our service. What could be better than that?
