This latest report provides insight into the demographic and debt information of new clients who first received debt advice in December 2025. It also includes the latest insights on our website traffic trends.

Our key findings from December 2025:

  • The number of clients completing full debt advice in December 2025 is 11,525. This is around 16% lower than November 2025 (13,659), reflecting regular seasonal trends towards year-end. Further, December 2025 figures are 13% higher than December 2024 (10,187)
  • Around one in six (16%) clients named ‘unemployment or redundancy’ as their main reason for debt, which is one percentage point higher than both November 2025 and December 2024 (15%)
  • In December 2025, over a half (52%) of clients had personal loan debt – this is four percentage points higher than December 2024
  • The number of clients in energy arrears has fallen. Over one in four (26%) of clients had electricity arrears in December 2025, two percentage points lower than in December 2024 (28%). 18% of clients had gas arrears in December 2025, which is three percentage points lower than in December 2024 (21%)
  • One in six (17%) clients in December 2025 are living with family – this is two percentage points higher than December 2024 (15%), and one percentage point higher than November 2025 (16%)
