Figures highlight precarious financial position of households
16 April, 2013
In response to today’s ONS report on the Economic Position of Households Q4 2012, StepChange Debt Charity external affairs director Delroy Corinaldi said:
“Today’s figures highlight the precarious the position of many UK households. People are being hit by a brutal mix of flat wage growth and rising housing and energy costs that will potentially leave them vulnerable to financial difficulty.
“StepChange Debt Charity is already seeing growing numbers of people falling behind on priority bills such as rent, energy and Council Tax, as the basic cost of living becomes harder to meet. Unless the broader economic conditions improve this trend is likely to continue”.
