Chris Wood joins our Board of Trustees

Today (1 February 2021), we are pleased to announce the appointment of Chris Wood as a Trustee of the charity.

Chris has extensive experience in both executive and non-executive roles. He brings with him first-hand expertise in the consumer credit sector with an understanding of its economic and regulatory drivers and, most importantly, a strong belief in the fair treatment of consumers.

For 15 years Chris led scale businesses and functions for Barclays and Barclaycard across the UK, Europe and North America. Prior to his role at Barclays, Chris worked as a consultant for Accenture for ten years, with clients in the UK, Europe, North America and Australasia.

John Griffith-Jones, Chair of StepChange Debt Charity, said:

“I am delighted to welcome Chris to our Board of Trustees at a crucial time for the debt advice sector.

"With his experience of the credit sector and its drivers, Chris will play a key role in guiding the charity’s strategy as we forge through the post-pandemic landscape and tackle the challenges Covid-19 has presented.”

Chris Wood said:

“I have long been an advocate of StepChange so I am delighted to be able to take an active role in the strategy, governance and oversight of their critical role.

"The pandemic has exacerbated many existing challenges for household finances and the support provided by the debt advice sector. I look forward to helping StepChange realise its mission of helping the people in this country who are struggling with their debts.”
