StepChange Debt Charity Scotland announced as payments distributor for Debt Arrangement Scheme
28 May 2015
Following the Accountant in Bankruptcy’s (AiB) announcement that StepChange Debt Charity Scotland has been successfully awarded a three year tender as a payments distributor for the Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS), Sharon Bell, Head of StepChange Debt Charity Scotland, said:
“We are delighted to be one of the four organisations successfully awarded this tender. As the leading provider of the free-to-client Debt Arrangement Scheme payment programmes in Scotland, this will complement the range of free services that we are able to offer our clients. This exciting opportunity will allow our dedicated team in Glasgow to support our clients throughout their whole DAS journey, from start to finish.”
Notes to editors
- The DAS is the only statutory debt management tool in the UK and is only available to clients in Scotland. It is a Debt Payment Programme (DPP) which allows clients to repay their debts based on their disposable income.
- When a DAS Administrator submits the application to creditors for approval, all interest, fees, penalties and other charges owed are frozen provided that the application is approved.
