StepChange Debt Charity responds to Tomorrow’s Borrowers: Personal Debt by 2025
28 November, 2013
Responding to a report published today by leading think tank, the Smith Institute, which suggests that urgent action is needed to stop the UK sleep walking into a major personal debt crisis, Frances Walker, head of media and public affairs for StepChange Debt Charity said:
“Today’s report highlights the need to ensure that free and impartial debt advice is available to all those who need it. With debt problems predicted to get worse, improving people’s awareness of the causes and implications of over-indebtedness is essential to reducing the harm that can be caused.
“What is needed now is a concerted effort by government, debt advice agencies and regulators to ensure that a range of advice services including telephone and online are available to meet the projected demand for debt advice.”
