Charity welcomes moves to restrict nuisance calls and texts
15 August, 2014
An inquiry into nuisance telephone calls and text messages being conducted by the Culture, Media and Sport committee has been commended by StepChange Debt Charity.
StepChange Debt Charity head of media and public affairs Frances Walker said: “Nuisance calls aren’t just annoying, they are potentially harmful.
These calls can result in people with debt problems being persuaded to borrow more money or opt for debt solutions which are unsuitable to their circumstances.
“The committee’s recommendations should look to protect consumers, particularly vulnerable people.”
Submissions to the enquiry closed today (August 15).
